5 steps to a trustless cross-chain trade
Generates a random secret and publishes its SHA-256 hash. Shares DOGE receiving address. If BTCT is not locked within 12 hours, the trade is auto-cancelled.
BTCT is locked in an on-chain HTLC contract with a ~2-hour timeout. Only the secret can unlock it.
DOGE is locked in a P2SH HTLC script (~6-hour timeout) using the same hash. Fully refundable on timeout.
Seller reveals the secret to claim DOGE from the P2SH. The secret is now public on the blockchain.
Buyer uses the revealed secret to unlock the BTCT HTLC. Trade complete โ both got their coins.
